T-1200

ABOUT

T-1200 is an Ethernet-based multichannel redundant switch used to increase the reliability of network-connected systems.

T-1200 can be installed on any new or existing Ethernet network and can incorporate any combination of optical fibre, copper or wireless links into a single set of redundant network paths. It supports up to 32 channels of redundancy.

Redundancy Evolution

Use cases for T-1200 include Safety Control System networks, networks with inconsistent connections, and networks where wireless equipment may encounter obstructions.

TECHNOLOGY

T-1200 operates as a transparent Layer-2 Ethernet datapath — no routing or NAT is performed on any packets.

T-1200 is similar to the IEC 62439-3 PRP standard and requires no changes to the network equipment on the non-redundant side (SAN). However, T-1200 has extensions that allow for more redundancy and diagnostics.

MULTICHANNEL REDUNDANCY

The system is compatible with equipment that implements the IEC 62439-3 PRP standard. However, T-1200 implements its own extension mode that allows up to 32 channels of redundancy.

REAL-TIME MEASUREMENTS

The system continuously measures bandwidth, latency and jitter across all redundant network paths. This information gives insight into network paths that may degrade over time, and into obstructions caused by equipment movement.

INTEGRATION WITH CONTROL SYSTEMS OR SCADA

T-1200 provides all diagnostic data via EtherNet/IP or Modbus TCP connections. This allows SCADA connections to actively monitor the system in real time, or a PLC control system to incorporate the status of a particular network into a control sequence.

FUNCTIONAL SAFETY SYSTEMS (SIL/PL)

T-1200 can provide network transport for controllers or I/O systems that are participating in a Safety Instrumented System (SIS or SRP/CS) up to any SIL level using a black-channel communications architecture.

In this arrangement, the control equipment must have reliable, low-latency network paths to operate without interruption and avoid operational downtime.
